Palo Alto, CA -- The Palo Alto City Library announces its second Annual Writing Contest for kids and teens. Children from grades 2-5 and teens in grades 6-12 will write an essay no more than 500 words in length on the topic, "How do you help a friend?" Entries may be turned in to any library branch or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Submissions must be received no later than Monday, January 11, 2010, by 9 p.m.
The essays will be judged on concept and creativity. Both children and teens are eligible to win first place grand prizes of $25 gift certificates to Books Inc. Bookstore. Additionally, each participant will receive a Culture Organic Frozen Yogurt gift certificate for one small yogurt with a free topping. The winners will be announced at receptions held for all writers:
Kids (Grades 2-5)

Teens (Grades 6-12)
Date and Time: Wednesday, January 27 at 4 p.m.
