Palo Alto, CA - Today, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Palo Alto Police Detectives arrested a 17 year old juvenile for residential burglary.  The incident began earlier in the day when Palo Alto Communications received a call regarding suspicious activity in a neighborhood close to Edgewood Drive. The alert caller also provided communications with a license plate of a possible suspect vehicle.

Officers responded to the area and located a residence with an open front door. Officers checked the interior and found it to be ransacked. It was later determined that televisions, computers, and jewelry were taken from the residence.

Palo Alto Detectives were able to associate the license plate number provided by the witness with a juvenile suspect out of Redwood City.  Palo Alto Detectives then spotted the suspect driving the same suspect vehicle with the same license plate number provided by the alert witness. He was stopped on Bay Road in Redwood City and arrested without incident.  Property taken during the residential burglary was located inside the suspect vehicle.

The juvenile, already on probation for burglary and weapons related offenses, was booked into Juvenile Hall on charges consisting of residential burglary, possession of stolen property, and for driving without a license.
