Palo Alto, CA – Palo Alto City Library is excited to be part of The Diary of a Wimpy Kid Ice Cream Truck Summer Reading Tour. The Tour’s ice cream truck will deliver free ice cream to the book’s fans. In addition to receiving the sweet treats, kids will have the opportunity to listen to the New York Times best-selling book being read aloud by librarians and audience members.

The Diary of a Wimpy Kid, a favorite series among upper-elementary and middle school students, features a middle school student who cartoons and writes in his diary about the hilarious trials and tribulations in his daily life. The author, Jeff Kinney, was recently named one of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People. According to The New York Times, "The first book, published in 2007 and billed as a "novel in cartoons," has spent 89 weeks on The New York Times’s children’s best-seller list and has been translated into 28 languages." The fourth book in the blockbuster series will be published on October 12, 2009.
