Downtown and Mitchell Park Libraries Expanding Hours of Service
Contact : Cornelia van Aken, Assistant Library Director    650-329-2668

Palo Alto, CA – Beginning July 13, 2009, Palo Alto City Library will expand hours of operation at its Downtown and Mitchell Park branches. The change will occur when College Terrace Library closes for renovation, allowing staff to be reassigned to other locations. The Downtown and Mitchell Park Libraries will each be open four more hours a week.

The additional hours are intended to respond to public demand for services, particularly as impacted by College Terrace Library’s temporary closure. Mitchell Park Library will have the same schedule as the Main Library, and when College Terrace Library reopens in 2010, its hours will correspond to those of Downtown Library. The Library believes that the new, simpler schedule and additional hours of operation will meet an increased demand for services and better serve the community.

Starting July 13, 2009, the new hours will be:

Downtown Library
Tuesday, Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Thursday: Noon – 7 p.m.
Friday, Saturday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Closed Sunday and Monday

Mitchell Park Library
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Thursday: Noon – 9 p.m.
Friday, Saturday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Sunday: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
