Palo Alto, CA - Palo Alto Human Relations Commission (HRC) Chair Daryl Savage and interim Police Chief Dennis Burns are jointly announcing that they will be seeking applications from members of the community who would like to serve on the new Chief's Community Advisory Group (Group).

The group will be tasked with advising the Police Chief on the delivery of effective and responsive policing to all members of our diverse community, in the most fair and impartial manner possible. The Group will meet regularly, and identify and address issues and patterns in local policing efforts, particularly those that involve the perception of bias-based actions by officers.

Applicants are welcome from the Greater Palo Alto area, including residents of Stanford, Menlo Park, and East Palo Alto. The Police Chief is seeking open-minded individuals who can communicate effectively, and who are committed to the mission and objectives of the Group. High school and college students are welcome. Group members must be trustworthy and free of any felony criminal history. After an application review, finalists will be invited to an interview with members of the HRC; final selection will be made by the Police Chief.
