Contact : James Keene, City Manager    650-329-2563

Palo Alto, CA – On April 27, 2009, the City Manager will present his proposed FY 2010 and FY 2011 budget to the City Council. Beginning May 5, the Council Finance Committee will begin review of the proposed budget and hold hearings. The City Council as a whole will discuss choices and recommendations in June, with adoption of the final budget on June 15. In advance of the Committee hearings, the City Manager and staff have scheduled two Community Budget Forums to brief interested citizens on the details of the City's budget and constraints. Community members will have an opportunity to ask questions as well as offer input on the choices and decisions that will need to be made.

City Manager Jim Keene stated: "It is more important than ever that the community be informed and engaged in the City’s budget process. It is critical that our residents fully understand the financial constraints and service demands of the City as background for the Council budget hearings. I hope community members will join us for a conversation around these important issues. Your informal input on the choices the City must make will be invaluable."
