Palo Alto, CA – The Palo Alto City Library presents an afternoon with accomplished local author, singer and artist, Pearl Sofaer. Pearl will delight the audience with stories from her book, Baghdad to Bombay: In the Kitchens of My Cousins, and will perform old Babylonian chants that fit into these stories. This program is part of the library’s first ever Spring Author Series of FREE events. The Friends of Palo Alto Library has generously provided funding for this program.

When: Tuesday, March 24, 2009, 3 p.m.
Where: Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road

Pearl Sofaer was born and raised in Bombay, India, at the heart of a large Jewish family originally from Baghdad and Kirkuk, Iraq. After the partition of India in 1947, most of her family moved to the four corners of the globe. In her book, Baghdad to Bombay: In the Kitchens of My Cousins, she shares her family’s rich heritage through vibrant memories and enticing recipes.
