Victim Surprised By Burglar In Home
Contact : Agent Rich Bullerjahn, Palo Alto Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA - At 9:30 p.m. on February 11, 2009, a female homeowner returned to her home in the 500 block of Everett Avenue after shopping.  About 15 minutes after returning home, the victim discovered a burglar hiding in her walk-in closet.  The burglar immediately fled past the victim and out the front door while the victim called 9-1-1.

At 9:46 p.m., officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter in an attempt to locate the suspect.  K-9 officers were requested from Menlo Park and Atherton police departments to assist with the search, but the suspect was not located.  The victim was not injured nor threatened by the suspect, and there is no evidence to believe that this crime was anything but an interrupted burglary.

The suspect is described as a hispanic male, 20-25 years old, 5'3" tall and medium build.  The suspect was clean-shaven and wearing a white sweatshirt with no hood, and light blue jeans.  It is unknown if the suspect fled on foot or had a vehicle or bicycle parked nearby.

The Palo Alto police department would like to remind all residents to always lock your doors and windows, especially at night. If anyone has further information on this crime they are encouraged to call the Palo Alto police department at 650-329-2406.
