Contact : Barbara Cimino, Emergency Manager    650-617-3164
Palo Alto, CA – Palo Alto community members are needed to help make and deliver sandbags to their neighbors who cannot do the work themselves. On Saturday, December 13, 2008, volunteers are invited to help their community and their neighbors at the 8th annual Sandbag Saturday.

Sandbag Saturday will take place at the Municipal Services Center (MSC) at 3201 E. Bayshore Road, Palo Alto, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Volunteers should call Barbara Cimino at 650-617-3164 to sign up for a specific 2-hour shift:
  • 10 AM – 12 Noon
  • 12 Noon - 2 PM
  • 2 - 4 PM
Volunteers may perform one of two tasks:  filling sandbags or assisting fellow residents who are unable to get sandbags to their homes.

If you are a Palo Alto resident and need assistance lifting sandbags, there will be volunteers there willing to help. Please go to MSC after 11 AM and request assistance.

The City's big yellow sandbagging machine will be in operation so gloves, hardhats and safety goggles are required and will be provided as needed.

For more information or to sign up for Sandbag Day, call 650-617-3164.
