Palo Alto, CA - On Saturday, September 20, 2008, Palo Alto Animal Services and Skyline Dog Fanciers are joining forces to promote "Responsible Dog Owner’s Day." This year, the event will be held at the Palo Alto Animal Shelter located at 3281 East Bayshore Road, from 1 - 4 p.m.
The emphasis at this year’s event is Disaster Preparedness, including the importance of microchipping pets. Information and products related to disaster preparedness will be available.
As an added treat, Kala the bloodhound will attend with her handler, Palo Alto Police Agent Jean Bready, and demonstrate search and rescue tactics. Agent Duane Tannock will bring his police dog, Lucas, for a demonstration of how drug searches are conducted. Skyline Dog Fanciers will present Agent Bready with a donation to help support Kala and the important work she does.
The event will also feature the following activities:
· Microchip identification for $15; this low, one-day fee includes registration in the local Palo Alto database and the national HomeAgain database.
· Annual "actual cost" rabies vaccination clinic where pet owners can have their animal vaccinated against rabies for $6
· DA2PP vaccination for $15
· Vendor tables
· Free goodies for pets
The event is being sponsored by Pet Food Express, PetSmart, Peet’s Coffee, Eagle Pack Dog Food, Family Tails Photography and HomeAgain Microchips. Pet owners are encouraged pet owners to tell their friends, relatives and neighbors about this wonderful opportunity. All pet owners are welcome!
