Palo Alto CA - Since Sunday, Police detectives, assisted by investigators from several allied agencies, are continuing to follow up on the shooting incident that occurred early Sunday morning in the 600 block of Bryant, adjacent to the Civic Center parking garage. Police tracked down several leads, including analyzing surveillance tapes from the Civic Center. Detectives are hoping to enhance the video footage to identify other persons who may have been witnesses to the crime. Police also hope to interview several other persons-of-interest, who have not yet been located, for witness interviews. Most of Monday was spent trying to locate these potential witnesses.

Police are unsure of the motives in the shooting resulting in 27 year-old South San Francisco resident Phillip Lacy being critically wounded. Lacy remains on life support systems at Stanford Hospital. The assailant apparently robbed Lacy of a necklace and possibly other personal property before shooting him on the sidewalk adjacent to the underground parking garage.

Police are exploring all possibilities and cannot confirm yet whether this was a "random event." It remains unclear if the victim had any prior contact with his assailant, perhaps from earlier in the evening, or if the victim actually knew his assailant.

Police want to assure the public that all available resources have been mobilized to investigate this incident, and we will work around the clock until we identify and arrest the responsible person.

Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to call the Anonymous Tip Line at 650-329-2190.
