Catch the Reading Bug at the Palo Alto City Library

Palo Alto, CA – Kids and teens are invited to join one of two summer reading programs at the Palo Alto City Library. The "Catch the Reading Bug" program is for children going into 5th grade and under in the fall and "Metamorphosis at your Library" is for students entering 6th grade and up. Summer reading programs encourage kids and teens to develop the literacy skills they have acquired during the school year. Setting a goal for reading for the summer, readers and non-readers alike will receive prizes provided by the Friends of the Palo Alto Library and Round Table Pizza.

Registration begins on June 2 and continues through July 31. Register on line at or in person at any Palo Alto City Library. Prizes will be awarded August 1 through 26.

The summer reading program also features free shows and activities, including Wacky Wednesday programs for kids and Morphing Monday programs for teens. Sponsored by the Friends of the Palo Alto Library, the fun begins with the following:

For kids:

Wacky Wednesday: Get Ready, Get Set, Glow!

P & T Puppets will present The Grasshopper and the Ant, a fun, heartwarming tale set to classical music.
