Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra

Palo Alto, CA – The Palo Alto City Library presents another in its free series of events celebrating Silicon Valley Reads: The Distant Land of My Father, by Bo Caldwell, with a performance by the Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra.

  • Time: 3:00 p.m.
  • Location: Mitchell Park Community Center, 3800 Middlefield Rd. 

The Firebird Youth Chinese Orchestra (FYCO) was founded in 2000 and is made up of young musicians, aged nine to 17, who play traditional Chinese instruments.  In addition to training young people to play Chinese instruments, FYCO performs new compositions and arrangements, such as the grand orchestral suite The Winchester HouseFYCO has won numerous grants and awards and the Arts Council Silicon Valley has named FYCO a "local treasure."               

The Palo Alto City Library will present the final program in the series, In Conversation with Bo Caldwell, on Sunday, February 24, at 3 p.m. at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road.  All programs are free.
