Contact : Sylvia Baker, Supervising Librarian    650-329-2620
Palo Alto, CA – On January 9, 2008, the Palo Alto City Library began a series of free presentations highlighting the Library’s on-line resources.  "What Shall I Read? Using NoveList to Find Books that Suit You," presented by Reference Librarians Kathy Shields and Deborah Anthonyson, was the first program in the series.  Shields and Anthonyson demonstrated many of the features of NoveList, a searchable online fiction resource providing reviews, annotations and more for over 135,000 fiction titles. NoveList includes a wealth of information for fiction readers, such as author read-alikes, book discussion guides and annotated book lists.

"Information You Can Use @ The Library" is presented every second Wednesday of the month, from 10:30 – noon, at the Main Library, 1213 Newell Road.  The series continues on February 13 with a presentation on "How to Help Your Child: Success in School Using Library Tools."  Future presentations in the series will include "The Historic New York Times: Searching a Century of News," and "Genealogy Resources @ The Library."

NoveList is funded by a Cable Co-Op Legacy Grant under the Friends of the Palo Alto Library "9 Libraries" project. For more information about Palo Alto City Library’s "Information You Can Use @ The Library" series, to sign up for presentations or to see a list of other on-line resources available from the Library, visit or call the Library’s central phone number at 650-329-2436 and select the option for the Reference Desk.
