Contact : Dan Ryan, Agent, Palo Alto Police Department    408-406-1330
Palo Alto, CA. - Police checked twelve local restaurants on Saturday evening, December 8th, for liquor law compliance, and cited six servers.

Pursuant to grant funding from the State Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), partially funded by the State Office of Traffic Safety and the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, the Department has been conducting undercover stings for the past year, using under-aged volunteers to attempt to purchase alcohol.

Saturday, police visited twelve restaurants. Individual servers were cited for serving to minors at  Babbo’s Bistro, P. F. Chang’s, Long Life Noodle Co,  La Playa Grill, Max’s Opera Café, and La Vanda Wine Bar. Additionally, these restaurants will be reported to the local ABC officials, for administrative sanctions.

Restaurants that successfully prevented the minors from obtaining alcohol include the Palo Alto Fountain and Grill, Fleming’s Steakhouse, California Pizza Kitchen ASAP, Pizza My Heart, Sushi Tomo, and the Coupa Café.

Additional undercover operations are planned for the next several months.
