Build Higher Performing Homes While Saving Money
Contact : Annette Puskarich, Recycling Coordinator, City of Palo Alto Public Works    650-496-5911
Palo Alto, CA - Palo Alto homeowners who are remodeling an existing home or building new are encouraged to take advantage of incentives available to make their homes more comfortable and higher performing, aka "green." The City, in conjunction with Build It Green, has created an at-a-glance matrix of rebates, tax credits and services to help you, with incentives that range from free compost and mulch to duct sealing rebates and tax credits for deconstruction. This matrix can save you money and is great information to share with your architect, designer, and contractor.

The incentives are grouped in categories that correspond to the Build It Green Guidelines for new and remodeled homes and are available for:

  • Site and Landscape
  • Building Envelope
  • HVAC and Plumbing
  • Appliances and Lighting
  • Renewable Energy
  • Tools and Financing

With high performing homes, the community moves toward its Zero Waste and Climate Protection goals. Both the incentives matrix and the guidelines for new home construction and remodeling are available at under Green Building Links and Downloads. For more information or a copy of the matrix, visit the Green Building kiosk located in the Development Center at 285 Hamilton Avenue.
