Abduction and Sexual Assault of Teenager
Contact : Sandra Brown, Sergeant    650-704-2930
Palo Alto CA - The Palo Alto Police responded to a report of a kidnapping and sexual assault of a 17 year-old female late this afternoon.  An unknown assailant attacked the victim from behind, in the 500 block of Arastradero Road, as she was returning home.

The attacker struck the victim several times in the face and then dragged her to his vehicle.  He then took the victim to another location in a vehicle and assaulted her.  Approximately 90 minutes after the abduction, the victim managed to escape from the vehicle and run for assistance in the City of Sunnyvale.

Palo Alto Police and Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers are investigating the crime at two separate scenes, and Detectives are working throughout the night. The only suspect description so far is a black male adult, between 20 and 30 years of age, short hair, no facial hair, of medium height and build, and was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

The Palo Alto Police Department will be increasing their patrols for the Halloween holiday both night and day.

Palo Alto Police would like to remind parents of Halloween Trick or Treaters to have their children in sight at all times and to have them walk in groups instead of alone.  We would also recommend that all females who walk or jog always travel in pairs or groups.

Anyone with information on this crime is encouraged to call the Palo Alto Police tip line at (650) 329-2190.
