Palo Alto, CA – Police have arrested a massage therapist for sexual assault.
On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at about 7:59 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from a man reporting that his wife, a woman in her forties, had just been sexually assaulted by her masseur at the Spine and Therapy Center at 2504 Ash Street. Police responded immediately and detained the suspect on scene without incident.
The investigation revealed that the suspect had sexually assaulted the victim during a massage appointment. The victim did not sustain any physical injury.
Police booked the suspect, 27-year-old Roy Alberto Melgar of San Mateo, at the Santa Clara County Main Jail for one felony count of sexual penetration. His booking photo is attached to this release.
At this time, police are not aware of any additional victims. The administrative personnel of the business are working collaboratively with detectives, and terminated Melgar upon learning of this investigation.
