Palo Alto, CA – Two handgun-wielding suspects robbed the 7-Eleven convenience store in the Midtown neighborhood overnight. No one was injured and the suspects are at large.
On Friday, August 7, 2020, at about 11:13 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from the clerk of the 7-Eleven convenience store at 708 Colorado Avenue reporting the store had just been robbed at gunpoint about five minutes earlier. Officers arrived on scene shortly thereafter but were not able to locate the suspects.
The investigation revealed that the suspects entered the store, pointed handguns at the clerk, and forced him to open the cash register. The victim clerk, a male in his twenties, complied with the suspect’s demands. The suspects removed cash from the register, stole several packs of cigarettes, and then fled in a dark-colored sport utility vehicle eastbound on Colorado Avenue. A second employee, a male in his fifties, was also in the store at the time of the robbery. There were no customers in the store.
The victims described both suspects as being white or Hispanic males between 20 and 25 years of age. Both were wearing face coverings, black jackets, and jeans. One suspect carried a silver handgun; the other carried a black handgun. Two surveillance photos of the suspects are attached to this release.
The last time a suspect robbed this particular 7-Eleven store was in April 2019. Police have not identified the suspect in that case, and have made no arrests.
