PALO ALTO, CA – Police are looking to identify a suspect who shot at an occupied vehicle traveling on Embarcadero Road and fled the scene.
On Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at around 8:55 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a shooting that had just occurred on Embarcadero Road near East Bayshore Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the male victim in his twenties was stopped in the left turn lane on eastbound Embarcadero Road when a suspect in a vehicle traveling southbound on East Bayshore Road turned right onto Embarcadero Road and opened fire on the victim’s vehicle. The suspect shot multiple times hitting the victim’s vehicle and then fled northbound on Highway 101. The victim was uninjured and we have not received any other reports of vehicles that were struck by gunfire.
Police located and collected evidence at the scene. Detectives are actively investigating. They are trying to determine if the shooting was random or targeted. The victim described the suspect as a Pacific Islander male in his twenties with dreadlocks wearing a facemask. The passenger in the front seat of the suspect vehicle was described as a female Pacific Islander in her twenties. The vehicle appears to be a red newer model Chevy SUV with rear tinted windows, no front license plate and a temporary rear paper license plate.
