Contact : Mary Minto, Library Division Head, City of Palo Alto, Library Department    650-329-2517
Palo Alto, CA – The Palo Alto City Library is accepting applications from residents who want to serve on an advisory group to assist in the development of a multi-year library technology plan.  By utilizing expertise from the community, the Library will determine how technology can be further used to strategically deliver and enhance library service.  The advisory group will work with the Library Advisory Commission, City staff and a consultant.  Development of a library technology plan was approved by the City Council as part of the 2007-08 capital budget.

"Technology provides the foundation from which we provide much of our service," says Library Director Diane Jennings.  "The use of our digital collections and other online resources continues to grow.  Librarians are now using Web 2.0 social networking tools to enhance communication with their customers.  It’s critical to continue to position the Library to best serve the community, and in Palo Alto, technology plays a major role in that."

The planning process will begin in November and last three to four months. To apply for service on the advisory group, email a statement of interest with contact information to by Monday, October 22, 2007.
