Palo Alto, CA – Police arrested a suspect for stabbing a co-worker at a business Wednesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at around 2:20 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a stabbing at Rubrik which is located at 1001 Page Mill Road. The preliminary investigation revealed there was a physical confrontation between two co-workers who worked as outside contractors in the mailroom. The suspect took the victim who is in his twenties by surprise and stabbed the victim from behind while in the mailroom and then chased him outside. The victim ran back inside the building and the door was locked by an alert employee preventing the suspect from reentering and continuing to attack the victim. Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect in the parking lot of the business while he was still holding the knife. They took the suspect safely into custody without further incident at 2:25 p.m.

The victim was transported to a local hospital and treated for multiple stab wounds that are non-life-threatening. No other employees were injured. Police are investigating a motive for the assault.

Police booked 21-year-old Lionel Munoz of Milpitas into the San Jose Main Jail for attempted murder (felony). His booking photo is attached to this release.
