The City of Palo Alto presents its annual Fourth of July tradition, hosting the 37th Annual Chili Cook-Off Summer Festival on Independence Day at Mitchell Park, 600 East Meadow Drive in Palo Alto from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
Teams of both professional and amateur chili cooks will show off their culinary skills as they compete to create freshly made chili. A panel of community leaders will help select first, second, and third place in the “Best Overall”, “Best Booth” and “Best Spirit” categories and the public will choose the “Peoples’ Choice” award.
Come enjoy an afternoon with live musical entertainment by Radio City All-Stars, a local band guaranteed to get festival-goers out on the dance floor. This year’s Kids’ Zone will have fun free activities, including bounce houses, face painting, games, arts and crafts and special animal guests from the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo.
A wide variety of food trucks and food vendors will be on hand, including these local favorites: Madd Mex, Paddy Wagon Sliders, Road Dogs, Creative Sips, Twister Food Truck, Oaxacan Kitchen Mobile, KettleTopia, Island Sno, Aroma Concessions and more.
Admission to the event is free and attendees can participate in chili tasting and peoples’ choice judging by purchasing their tasting tickets for $5. The first 250 participants who pick-up their pre-purchased tickets will receive a free water canteen. Tickets are very limited, so pre-purchasing your tickets early is highly recommended.
