Palo Alto, CA - On Wednesday September 26, 2007, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Palo Alto Police responded to the Driftwood Deli at 3450 El Camino Real on the report of an armed robbery. According to store employees, a male subject entered the store through the El Camino doors. As he entered, he was talking on a cellular phone. He slowly approached the counter where he encountered a store clerk. The suspect stated, "hand me the money, this is a robbery," and appeared to be holding a handgun under the front of his shirt. The clerk complied with his demand and handed the suspect approximately $500.

The suspect removed the cash from the counter, exited the store and ran southbound on El Camino Real. Employees watched the suspect enter a dark green, late 1990s model Chevrolet Camaro with black tinted windows. The vehicle made a u-turn and sped off northbound El Camino Real.

Based on his accent, witnesses believe that the suspect may be of Middle-Eastern decent. He was further described as 5 foot 8 inches tall and approximately 200 pounds. Witnesses recalled that he had an "olive" skin complexion and was unshaven at the time of the robbery.  He was wearing a black "Polo" style shirt and red basketball style shorts. Additionally, the suspect had swollen and bruised lips. The suspect is currently at large.
