As part of Palo Alto’s Healthy City, Healthy Community priority set by the City Council, Palo Alto is partnering again this year with the Palo Alto Family YMCA to bring a speakers series, group exercise classes, interactive booths, fitness and nutrition classes, and other wellness events to the third annual Palo Alto Community Health Fair on Saturday, Sept. 23. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and this year, will be held at City Hall with activities planned for both inside the Council Chambers and community rooms, as well as on King Plaza.
Healthy City, Healthy Community was adopted as a Council priority in 2015 and encourages social, cultural and physical environments that promote healthy living and creative expression in our communities.
The Palo Alto Community Health Fair is open to all ages and will include a series of expert-led talks on a variety of health issues, fun group exercise classes, and community activities. Pre-registration is encouraged for many of the health lectures.
The fair coincides with Suicide Prevention Awareness Month and Project Safety Net is organizing a QPR Suicide Prevention Training course that can help bring greater education and emergency response to mental crisis.
There will also be a teen debate, virtual reality health activity, bike safety check and personalized, data-driven wellness insights from Stanford WELL for Life.
