Contact : Stephanie Douglas, Recreation Superintendent    (650) 329-2107
Palo Alto, CA — The City of Palo Alto continues its annual Fourth of July tradition, hosting the 36th Annual Chili Cook-Off Summer Festival on Independence Day at Mitchell Park, 600 East Meadow Drive in Palo Alto from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

Teams of both professional and amateur chili cooks will show off their culinary skills as they compete to create freshly made chili from scratch. A panel of community leaders will help choose first, second, and third place in the "Best Overall", “Best Booth” and “Best Spirit” categories and the public will select the “Peoples' Choice” award.

Come enjoy an afternoon with live musical entertainment by Radio the City All-Stars, a local band guaranteed to get festival-goers out on the dance floor. This year’s Kids’ Zone will have fun free activities, including basketball and baseball inflatable games, bounce houses, face painting and other games including Cornhole Toss and Jenga, plus, arts and crafts.

A wide variety of food trucks and food vendors will be on hand, including these local favorites: Taste Bytes, Sam's Chowder House, Paddy Wagon Sliders, Smoked Out BBQ, Fresh Catch Poke, Creative Sips, Twister Food Truck, Oaxacan Kitchen Mobile, Stick and Grill and Aroma Concessions.

Admission to the event is free and attendees can participate in judging by purchasing chili-tasting tickets for $5. The first 200 participants to purchase tickets will receive a free picnic blanket or water canteen.
