Palo Alto, CA – Police arrested an Uber driver over the weekend after he groped a female passenger and then tried to return to her home later in the night.

On Sunday, October 30, 2016, at about 12:27 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a sex crime that had occurred at a home in the area of Los Trancos Road and Alpine Road.  The investigation revealed that the victim, a woman in her forties, and her husband had taken an Uber and been dropped off at their home just after 11:00 p.m.  A short time later, they realized they had left a cell phone in the vehicle and called the Uber driver to ask him to bring it back.  When he arrived, the victim went outside to retrieve the phone.  After returning the phone, the suspect suddenly kissed the victim and then groped her breast.  The victim pushed the suspect away and ran back inside.  The suspect drove off.  The victim and her husband immediately reported the incident to Uber.

About an hour later, at about 12:25 a.m., the victim received a call from the suspect stating that he was outside her home.  She told him to go away and immediately called the police.  Officers responded but the suspect was gone.  Police were able to identify him as 35-year-old Pedro Liborio-Anorve of Redwood City, and officers arrested him without incident at his home in the 3400 block of Michael Drive just before 4:00 a.m.  Police booked the suspect into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for sexual battery (a felony) and stalking (a misdemeanor).  His booking photo is attached to this release.
