Children’s Library Re-opens with Special Event on September 29

Palo Alto, CA – The Palo Alto City Library will host a full day of special events to celebrate the re-opening of the newly remodeled and expanded Children’s Library. The building will open to the public on Saturday, September 29, 2007, after an extensive 21-month renovation. 

The day’s festivities begin at 10 a.m. with a wagon parade of children returning books from their temporary home at the Main Library at 1213 Newell Road to the Children’s Library at 1276 Harriet Street. The doors of Children’s Library officially open at 10:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The full schedule of events is: 

  • Ribbon cutting with Mayor Yoriko Kishimoto at 10:30 a.m.
  • Unveiling of the new mural by Jeff Petersen at 10:45 a.m.
  • Author talk by Dave Keane, author of Joe Sherlock, Kid Detective series (co-sponsored by Keplers Bookstore) at 11 a.m.
  • Afternoon music performances by the Wing String Thing at        1 p.m. and Hey, Mom! at 3 p.m.
    Refreshments will be available and there will be kids’ activities throughout the day.
