Suspect Arrested in Last Week's Bank Robbery
Contact : Zach Perron, Lieutenant, Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA - The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has arrested the woman suspected of robbing the Star One Credit Union in Palo Alto last week.

Personnel from the Sheriff's Office arrested the suspect, 27-year-old Mary Alailupe Mapa, at her home in East Palo Alto on Thursday, August 4.  Today, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office charged her in conjunction with the August 2 Palo Alto robbery.  In the aftermath of our case, detectives from the Palo Alto Police Department worked collaboratively with their counterparts from numerous allied law enforcement agencies (including the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety) and were able to connect Mapa to our robbery.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Mapa has been identified as the suspect in at least nine different bank robberies throughout the greater Bay Area.  She is not suspected in any additional Palo Alto robberies.
