Palo Alto, CA – An autopsy has confirmed that a Palo Alto woman died in her home last week of multiple stab wounds.  Detectives still have no significant leads, but believe it is more likely than not that the unknown suspect knew the victim.

On Thursday, July 7, 2016, at about 7:42 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting suspicious circumstances at a residence in the 300 block of Creekside Drive.  Officers responded immediately and found the victim, 65-year-old resident Jenny Shi, deceased inside.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the reporting party was a family member of the victim, who had gone to the home in an effort to locate her and discovered her body inside.  Detectives have been treating the case as a suspicious death from the beginning, but an autopsy performed on July 11 by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner has confirmed that the victim died by homicide via multiple stab wounds.

Police still have no significant leads, and are continuing to examine all possibilities as to who may be responsible for the victim's death.  Detectives are exploring the relationships the victim had with a significant number of associates related to her real estate holdings and other potential business endeavors.  While detectives cannot say for sure, they believe it is more likely than not that the victim knew her assailant.

As significant developments in this case come to light, we will release additional information in the future.
