Man Exposes Himself to 12-Year-Old Girl, Remains at Large
Contact : Brian Philip, Sergeant, Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA – A 12-year-old girl walking her dog this afternoon was the victim of an indecent exposure.  The suspect is unknown and remains at large.

On Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at about 1:41 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call of an indecent exposure that had just occurred in the 2200 block of Louis Road.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a 12-year-old girl, had been walking along the sidewalk when a car stopped next to her.  The victim made eye contact with the driver and then noticed he was masturbating.  She immediately took out her cell phone, at which point the suspect said "I'm sorry" and then drove away southbound on Louis Road towards Oregon Expressway.  The victim ran away from the scene, then went home and immediately told a parent, who promptly called police.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his forties, with short dark-colored hair.  He had a dark complexion and was overweight.  She said he was wearing a T-shirt and long pants, which were unzipped and open.  The victim said he was driving a silver older four-door sedan that she described as being “dirty” and possibly a Honda or Toyota.  The victim met with a police artist, and we released the sketch of the suspect on July 7 at about 12:40 p.m.

Detectives are investigating the case to see if it is connected to any other cases, either in Palo Alto or surrounding communities.  Police ask for your help with reporting suspicious activity immediately via 9-1-1, as the parent did in this case.  We also advise parents to remind children to remain alert no matter where they are, and to tell a trusted adult immediately about anything they see that does not seem quite right.
