Palo Alto, CA – Police have arrested a man for rape, sexual battery, and false imprisonment after he assaulted an acquaintance and held her against her will in his home.

On Saturday, June 25, 2016, at about 7:38 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a rape that had occurred the previous night inside a private residence in Palo Alto.  The victim, a woman in her twenties, said that after she had gone to dinner with the suspect and other acquaintances, she had dropped the suspect off at his home.  When she commented that she was tired, he invited her inside to have a glass of water and rest.  When she agreed and went inside his home, he forcibly raped her.  After the assault, he prevented her from leaving by holding a knife while telling her she could not go.  After several hours had passed, the victim was able to get out of the home and drive away.

No additional information on the victim is available for release.

Detectives immediately began investigating the case, and identified the suspect as 27-year-old Yue Zhou of Palo Alto.  On Tuesday, July 5, at about 7:50 a.m., detectives contacted the suspect at his home in the 4200 block of Wilkie Way and took him into custody without incident.  Detectives later booked the suspect into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for rape by force, sexual battery, and false imprisonment (all felonies).  A booking photo of the suspect is attached to this release.
