Palo Alto, CA -- Palo Alto resident was awakened by strange noises late Saturday evening and found a burglar inside his home. The elderly male victim confronted the burglar, who then fled the victim’s home. The burglar was located minutes later and arrested by police.

On September 1 at 10:44 p.m., Palo Alto Police received a 911 call from the victim of a residential burglary in the 800 block of Sand Hill Road. The victim told police he awoke to some noise and noticed a male suspect in his room. The victim confronted the suspect, who immediately fled the victim’s home.

During the confrontation in the home, the victim recognized the suspect as someone he had employed some time ago to do work around his home.

A Menlo Park Police officer spotted the suspect and stopped him at the intersection of Oak Avenue and Vine Street, which is located about two blocks from the scene of the burglary.

Police arrested 39 year old Ronaldo Maglonzo of San Francisco. Maglonzo was charged with one count of burglary and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail. Maglonzo also had an outstanding arrest warrant for burglary from an unrelated incident.

The police department would like to remind community members to call police when they observe any unusual or suspicious activity.
