Students United Against Cancer To Kick Off by Hosting A Cancer Speaker Night
Contact : Jose Perez, Teen Program Specialist    (650) 329-2443
Students United Against Cancer (SUAC), a City of Palo Alto sponsored teen group, is hosting Coping with Cancer: A Speaker Night. During this event, those affected by cancer or those who have a unique perspective on the disease will be able to share their experience. This free event will take place Sunday, March 20 at the Mitchell Park Community Center from 7-9 p.m.

By listening to speakers share their stories through a presentation, speech, poem, or song, teens, families, and community members can spark conversation and dialogue about cancer and the different ways it affects the teen population. Speakers include medical practitioners, medical researchers, cancer patients, and families and friends of cancer patients.

Attendees will also be able to learn about the latest in cancer research, the different types of cancers, how to cope with the disease, and what they can do to help. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

SUAC President Shannon Yang states, "Our goal is to get community members and teens to start talking about cancer and to find out the different ways they can help."
