Contact : James Reifschneider, Sergeant, Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA – Police arrested a wanted felon Wednesday morning, following a lengthy manhunt.  The suspect had earlier fled from a pedestrian stop.

On Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at about 9:35 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from a house cleaner on the 300 block of Creekside Drive. reporting that a suspicious male was loitering in the area.  The first responding officer arrived in the area minutes later and located the subject nearby.  Upon contacting the subject, the officer recognized him as a wanted fugitive and attempted to detain him.  The subject pulled away from the officer and ran eastbound on the 300 block of Parkside Drive.  The officer gave chase but lost sight of the suspect as he ran eastbound through the Cubberley Community Center campus.

Shortly thereafter, our 24-hour dispatch center received several successive calls from residents of the Greenmeadow and Fairmeadow neighborhoods reporting sightings of the suspect running through back yards and climbing over fences.

Police teamed up with officers from the Mountain View Police Department and a canine officer from the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety to conduct an extensive search of the area.

At about 11:30 a.m., police received information that the suspect might be inside of a residence on the 3900 block of El Camino Real.  Officers responded to the area, located the suspect, and took him into custody without further incident.

Six schools in the area were placed on a precautionary lockdown.  During this time, classroom doors were locked but instruction continued.

Police booked 32-year-old Mountain View resident Timothy Angelo Molinari into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for one felony count of failing to properly register as a sex offender, and one misdemeanor count of resisting arrest (for fleeing from officers today).  Additionally, police also booked Molinari for two outstanding felony warrants (possession of stolen property from the Mountain View Police Department, and a violation of parole), as well as two outstanding misdemeanor warrants (possession of drug paraphernalia from the Palo Alto Police Department, and petty theft from the Mountain View Police Department).  Molinari is on active parole for drug and weapons related offenses.  A booking photo of the suspect is attached to this release.
