Police are looking for a man who grabbed the buttocks of a woman while she walked her dog in downtown Palo Alto on Tuesday evening. The suspect is at large.

Palo Alto, CA – Police are looking for a man who grabbed the buttocks of a woman while she walked her dog in downtown Palo Alto on Tuesday evening. The suspect is at large.

On Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at about 6:33 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from a woman in her twenties reporting that she had just been the victim of a sexual battery that occurred in the 500 block of Emerson Street.  Officers arrived in short order, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The investigation revealed that the victim had been walking her dog in the 500 block of Emerson Street when she saw a man walking westbound through City Parking Lot "N" at 539 Emerson Street.  The man was yelling at no one in particular.  The man walked up to her, grabbed her buttocks, and then walked away southbound on Emerson Street.  When the victim scolded the suspect for what he had done, the suspect shouted obscenities at her as he continued to walk away. The victim called the police immediately.

The victim described the suspect as a white male in his thirties, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a skinny build.  He had “salt and pepper” hair that was parted on the side and gelled back.  The victim said he was wearing blue jeans and a black nylon zippered jacket with a small logo on the chest.  If police obtain a sketch of the suspect, we will release that as soon as it is available.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.  Anonymous tips can be e-mailed to paloalto@tipnow.org or sent via text message or voice mail to 650-383-8984.  Tips can also be submitted anonymously through our free mobile app, downloadable at bit.ly/PAPD-AppStore or bit.ly/PAPD-GooglePlay.
