The Palo Alto Children’s Theatre and Friends of the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre are excited to work with the Wave2Wave Foundation to provide science learning opportunities through interactive theatrical presentations. The Wave2Wave Foundation’s sponsorship of the commission of a fiber-optic theatrical installation by nationally recognized artist Christopher Moulder will provide Silicon Valley youth with unique, hands-on learning opportunities, including:
- Youth technicians age 9—15 will learn about fiber optics through theatrical lighting design internships, as well as in installation, programming and light board operation of the new technology in workshops led by artist Christopher Moulder and lighting designer Leonardo Hidalgo at the Children’s Theatre on February 17 and 18;
- Young audience members age 2—6 will be inspired by the technology, as it is put to use throughout the Playhouse Season;
- Cast members age 13—17 will work with the technology throughout the Playhouse rehearsal and performance process;
- Community-wide, through distribution of Wave2Wave’s educational publications and digital materials.
Playhouse Series audiences will enjoy a very special installation by designer Christopher Moulder, featured in 2016 – 2017 performances in the Children’s Theatre Castle Stage. There will be an informal reception to celebrate the finished installation on Saturday, February 20 at 1:30 p.m. at the Children’s Theatre.
