Palo Alto, CA – A man robbed a woman of her purse near the downtown transit depot at about 3:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.  The victim suffered minor injuries and the suspect is at large.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at about 1:00 p.m. a woman came to the Palo Alto Police Department to report that, earlier that morning, she had been robbed in the area of the downtown transit depot.

The investigation revealed that, at about 3:00 a.m., the victim, a woman in her fifties, was walking on the 00 block of University Avenue, having just disembarked a bus at a nearby bus stop.  A man approached the victim from behind and grabbed the purse that she was carrying.  After a brief struggle with the suspect, the purse was torn from the victim's grasp and she fell to the ground.  The suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction.  The victim sustained minor injuries to her knee that did not require immediate medical attention.

The victim described the suspect as a black male in his mid-twenties.  A sketch of the suspect is not anticipated.

Detectives are actively investigating this case.  No similar robberies have occurred in this area.
