Technology Meets Tradition as Downtown Palo Alto Holds First Ever Block Party
‘Meet the Street’ to Highlight Local Businesses on ‘side streets’

Event:             The birthplace of Silicon Valley is having a block party downtown to highlight its local businesses as part of the city's inaugural Meet the Street event on October 8 from 5 to 9 p.m.  Four blocks of downtown Palo Alto will become pedestrian-only – Ramona, Emerson, Bryant and Waverley – as technology blends with tradition to highlight the varied local businesses in the downtown area south of University Avenue.   

Details:            Participants can shop, dine, stroll and enjoy music, art and lights with events including:
·         A robot talking climate change with Palo Alto’s sister city Palo, Leyte, Philippines
·         Blacklight chalk art in an alley activation
·         Bell’s Books celebrates 80 years with antique printing, printing presses
·         Cardinal Hotel marks its 90th anniversary with a Roaring '20s themed evening
·         Fashion runway featuring apparel from local boutiques
·         Food tastings, cake decorating, chocolate demonstrations
·         Music – lots of it with live band, Irish jigs, chamber orchestra
·         Mobile Art platform – make your own 3D art
