Palo Alto, CA – Palo Alto Children's Theatre Artistic Director Judge Luckey has announced the theatre's lineup for 2015/16. The season includes four main stage productions, nine Playhouse productions, six Outreach productions performed at elementary schools, and a special event presented by the Friends of the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre.
Three-time recipient of the Palo Alto Weekly’s Best Place for Live Entertainment, the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre celebrates its 84th season. Annually serving more than 40,000 community members, the theatre continues its mission of engaging children through the power of the arts.
"With recognizable and well-loved works from children’s literature, we are thrilled to create a dynamic, engaging theatre experience for children of all ages," said Luckey. "This season the Children’s Theatre is celebrating the 100th birthday of world renowned children’s author Roald Dahl by mounting stage adaptations of two of his most popular and beloved books: The BFG and James and the Giant Peach."

When Sophie encounters a giant in the middle of the night, she thinks she’s about to be eaten! Luckily for Sophie he’s the Big Friendly Giant and together they team up to save the children of England.
THE NUTCRACKER, Dec. 10-20

Join Clara on the journey from her family party to the Land of the Sweets, filled with swirling snowflakes and Tchaikovsky's beloved music. This enchanting winter tale will appeal to audiences of all ages!
ELEPHANT AND PIGGIE'S "WE ARE IN A PLAY!", Jan. 26-Feb. 14
Based on the book series by Mo Willems | Book and lyrics by Mo Willems | Music by Deborah Wicks La Puma
Our favorite characters from Mo Willems timeless tales, Elephant and Piggie, with the help of the nutty backup singers The Squirrels, take the audience on a madcap musical romp about friendship. This special production features Bay Area professional actors and additional student matinee performances.
JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH, May 12-22
Based on the book James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl | Book by Timothy Allen McDonald | Music and Lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul
When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion which results in a tremendous peach - and launches an adventure of enormous proportions.
The Playhouse is a very special interactive experience designed for our littlest audience members, where local high school performers bring beloved fairy tales to life on the Magic Castle stage. Suggested ages: 2 – 6.
Performances are approximately 45 minutes in length on Saturdays at 10:00am and 12:00pm and Sundays at 12:00pm.

SPECIAL EVENT: THEATRE UNSPEAKABLE’S THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

Theatre Unspeakable, Chicago’s award-winning theatre company, will bring their newest production, The American Revolution, to the Children’s Theatre stage this fall! The American Revolution takes the audience on a fast-paced journey through history in just 50 minutes. Seven actors, two feet off the ground, share 21 square feet of space and recreate the entire American fight for independence from Lexington to Yorktown. Using only the actors' bodies and voices, The American Revolution combines an exciting learning experience with imaginative physical theatre.
