Police Seek Late-Night Prowler Seen Outside Residence
Contact : Marco Estrada, Agent, Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA -- An unknown male was seen in the backyard of a residence late last night, and fled prior to police arrival.

On Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at about 11:23 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from a resident in the 1000 block of Moffett Circle reporting a prowler that had just been in their backyard.  Officers responded immediately and searched the area with a police canine, but did not locate the suspect.

The investigation revealed that at about 11:20 p.m., a 14-year-old girl had been laying on her bed, looking at her cell phone, with the light on.  She got out of bed to get a glass of water, and once she was in the kitchen, she saw an unknown male walking in the backyard.  She immediately notified a parent, who in turn called police right away.  The suspect's motives are not known, but officers believe the girl would have been visible to the suspect had he been looking into her bedroom window.

The girl described the suspect as a light-skinned male with dark hair, about six feet tall with a skinny build.  He was wearing dark clothing.  His age and race are unknown.  No sketch of the suspect is available.

Detectives are actively investigating this case.  There have been no similar crimes reported in the recent past.
