New Hold Policy at the Palo Alto City Library
Contact : Rose Sebastian, Library Supervisor, City of Palo Alto, Library Department    650-329-2478
Palo Alto, CA - Effective July 1, the Library will charge customers a one dollar expired-hold fee for putting an item, such as a book or CD, on hold but not picking it up by the expiration date. No fee will be charged if the hold is canceled.

"The Library wants to get materials into the hands of its customers quickly," says Circulation Supervisor Rose Sebastian. "This change encourages people to pick up holds promptly and cancel holds that are no longer needed so that other customers can check out those materials."

Two related changes will go into effect July 1:
• The number of items that can be put on hold is ten
• The length of time DVDs can be held is extended to seven days to be
consistent with other materials

For more information about the Library’s lending policy, go to
www.cityofpaloalto.org/library or contact Rose Sebastian, Circulation Supervisor at 650-329-2478.
