Palo Alto, CA -- Police arrested a man last week for making inappropriate sexual comments to middle school students at a church.

On Thursday, February 19, 2015, at about 7:00 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting that a man was creating a disturbance and refusing to leave at the All Saints Episcopal Church at 555 Waverley Street.  Upon arrival, police detained the suspect on the premises.

The investigation revealed that an event for middle school students at the church had just ended.  A church employee, a woman in her fifties, saw the suspect sitting on a bench in the courtyard.  She overheard him make inappropriate comments of a sexual nature to a group of four boys as they walked by him.  She immediately called police for assistance.  The suspect did not make physical contact with any students.

Police booked 64-year-old Kenneth Edward Schwartz of Burlingame into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for one count of misdemeanor annoying/molesting children.  Note that while the section for which he was booked includes the word "molest," the suspect did not physically touch any children.  A booking photo of the suspect is attached to this release.

Detectives have since received information that the suspect may also have made inappropriate sexual comments to a group of middle school girls at the event as well.  That portion of the investigation is continuing.
