Suspect Gropes Man in Department Store Restroom
Contact : Brian Philip, Detective Sergeant, Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA -- A man entered a department store restroom, grabbed the buttocks of a urinating male customer, and peeped over the urinal partition at the customer's exposed penis.  The suspect fled and is at large.

On Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at about 12:00 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call from a man reporting that, fifteen minutes earlier, he had been groped inside of the men's restroom of the Macy’s Men's department store at 180 El Camino Real.  Officers responded to the area immediately but were unable to locate the suspect.

The investigation revealed that the victim, a man in his thirties, had been standing at the urinal when the suspect entered the restroom.  The suspect grabbed the victim’s buttocks over his clothing and then peered over the urinal partition at the victim’s exposed penis.  When the victim objected to the suspect’s behavior, the suspect left the restroom.  He was last seen exiting Macy’s Men's.

The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male in his thirties with a medium build.  The suspect was seen wearing a red sweatshirt and brown carpenter style pants.  A still surveillance image of the suspect is attached to this release.  As the quality of the image is poor, police released a sketch of the suspect on February 15, 2015.

Detectives are exploring the possibility that this incident is related to Monday’s incident, during which a female was photographed while using the restroom at Cubberley Community Center.
