Palo Alto, CA – On Thursday, Nov. 20 at 1:37 p.m., the Palo Alto Fire Department was dispatched to an electrical fire at CPI, 811 Hansen Way, Building 2, the main building where hazardous materials are stored, and where manufacturing and testing takes place.

Palo Alto Fire Engines 62, 65, 66, 64, Truck 66, Medic 61 and Battalion 66 responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished by CPI personnel upon the Fire Department's arrival at 1:41 p.m.

The fire was confined to a Magnetic Testing Cabinet where frayed electrical wires heated hydraulic oils in the bottom of the pan in the cabinet. The fire was contained to the inside of the cabinet. No chemicals were involved and there was no release of any hazardous materials.

This afternoon, Hazardous Materials Inspectors from the Fire Department’s Prevention Bureau are conducting the fire investigation and an overall inspection of Building 2.
