Palo Alto, CA -- Officers arrested a suspect last night who had committed a violent assault against his live-in girlfriend earlier in the day and then fled prior to police arrival.

On Sunday, October 26, 2014, at about 6:15 p.m., officers arrested 28-year-old Tyler Randall Wallace without incident as he attempted to return to his residence in the 2800 block of Alma Street.  Detectives and patrol officers had staked out the residence since discontinuing the neighborhood search at 6:00 a.m. after determining he was not in the containment area.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had repeatedly assaulted his live-in girlfriend, a woman in her twenties, inside their home earlier that morning.  He also brandished a knife at her, threatened her life, and held her against her will when she wanted to leave.  The assaults ended when the victim was finally able to call 9-1-1 for help at 3:20 a.m.

Police booked the suspect at the Santa Clara County Main Jail for six felony crimes (criminal threats, false imprisonment, and four forcible felony sex crimes) and misdemeanor brandishing.  A booking photo of the suspect is attached to this release.
