Police Arrest Man for Lewd Conduct, Seale Park Case Solved
Contact : Brian Philip, Detective Sergeant, Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA -- Police arrested a man for two incidents of lewd conduct that occurred on August 2.  The same man has also been charged in connection with the Seale Park incident on August 1.

On Friday, August 1, 2014, at about 5:00 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting an indecent exposure that had just occurred at Seale Park at 3100 Stockton Place.  Two women reported seeing a man walking through the park with his penis exposed through the open zipper of his pants.  Officers responded but were unable to locate the suspect.  One of the victims worked with a sketch artist, and we released a sketch to the public on August 2.

On Saturday, August 2, 2014, at about 10:09 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a man lewdly rubbing his groin, while standing in front of a business on the 100 block of Forest Avenue.  The man's penis was not exposed.  Officers responded but were unable to locate the suspect.

Minutes later, at about 10:12 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a man lewdly rubbing his groin, while standing on the train platform at 95 University Avenue.  The man's penis was not exposed.  Officers responded but were unable to locate the suspect.

Later that day, at about 1:14 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received multiple calls reporting a man acting strangely near the playground area of Johnson Park, located at 251 Waverley Street.  Officers responded immediately and located 37-year-old Cory Jacobs of Palo Alto at the park.  Jacobs matched the description of the suspect in the two earlier incidents.  At that time, Jacobs was interviewed and released.

Officers from the Palo Alto Police Department conducted follow-up investigation that ultimately connected the suspect to the crimes that occurred in the downtown area on August 2.  On August 21, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of misdemeanor lewd conduct against the suspect for those incidents, and detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On August 30, deputies from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jacobs for the Palo Alto warrant, after contacting him on the 00 block of Second Street in San Jose.  A booking photograph of the suspect from that arrest is attached to this release.

Detectives from the Palo Alto Police Department conducted follow-up investigation that ultimately connected the suspect to the Seale Park crime.  On September 4, the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office filed one additional count of misdemeanor lewd conduct against the suspect for that incident.  The suspect remains in custody.

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.  Anonymous tips can be emailed to paloalto@tipnow.org or sent via text message or voice mail to 650-383-8984.  Tips can also be submitted anonymously through our free mobile app, downloadable at bit.ly/PAPD-AppStore or bit.ly/PAPD-GooglePlay
