Palo Alto, CA -- Police arrested an instructor at a Palo Alto martial arts studio after a female student reported that he had tried to kiss her when she was 17 years old.  Police are searching to see if additional victims exist.

On Friday, May 23, 2014, at about 9:03 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call of a sexual battery that had occurred in the past at Hiruko Wellness at 2741 Middlefield Road.  The victim, now an adult, told officers that she had been taking taekwondo lessons at the studio from the suspect since she was 11 years old.  Over the years, she had also become a part-time employee at the business.  In late 2013 when she was 17 years old, the victim said the suspect had put his arms around her and held her close to him while they were alone inside the studio.  He then took her face in both of his hands and attempted to kiss her.  The victim repeatedly pulled away until he released her.

After the conclusion of their investigation, officers presented the case to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, who filed a misdemeanor charge of annoying or molesting a child against the suspect.  Police obtained a warrant for the suspect’s arrest on August 4, 2014.  On Thursday, August 14, 2014, at about 6:13 a.m., 39-year-old Mountain View resident Jorge Alberto Tejada self-surrendered at the Santa Clara County Main Jail pursuant to the arrest warrant.  A booking photo of the suspect is attached to this release.

Officers are currently unaware of any other victims, but encourage anyone with information to come forward by contacting our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.  Anonymous tips can be e-mailed to or sent via text message or voice mail to 650-383-8984.  Tips can also be submitted anonymously through our free mobile app, downloadable at or
