Ribbon Cutting Held for New Playground at Eleanor Pardee Park
Contact : Claudia Keith, Chief Communications Officer    650-329-2607
With a lot of laughter, playing and ice cream, the new tot lot playground at Eleanor Pardee Park opened after an extensive renovation. Mayor Nancy Shepherd and Vice-Mayor Liz Kniss were joined by preschool children from St. Elizabeth Seton School for a ribbon cutting and celebration on May 27.

The tot lot playground now has new play equipment, a sand play area, rubber surfacing and a 42-inch tall fence enclosure with additional picnic tables and seating.

The playground renovation was part of a larger public works project at the park that began in November 2013 and included repairing and upgrading existing elements in the park. The major components of the project included repaving the existing asphalt pathway, upgrading the existing tot lot playground and repairing/retrofitting the existing irrigation system. Other renovations included new decomposed granite pathways, site amenities (benches, tables, barbecues, drinking fountains), and additional sustainable planting and new trees.

At 9.6 acres, Eleanor Pardee Park is the second largest in the city and includes two playgrounds, a picnic area with barbecues, a multipurpose concrete bowl, a jogging/walking path, community gardens, and Memorial Grove.
