Police Invite Public to Community Meeting on Crime Next Tuesday Night
Contact : Zach Perron, Lieutenant, Police Department    650-329-2413
Palo Alto, CA -- The Palo Alto Police Department will be hosting a community meeting next week to provide information on recent crime trends and to go over important crime prevention tips.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at 250 Hamilton Avenue.  Ample free parking is available under City Hall.

Detectives will present up-to-date crime statistics, and will focus the discussion primarily on the January 23 armed home-invasion robbery on Palo Alto Avenue, street robberies, the recent spike in auto burglaries, and residential burglaries.  Personnel will present an overview of the Department's ongoing response to these crimes, an overview of the criminal investigative process, and have a discussion about how to recognize and promptly report suspicious behavior to police.  Detectives will go over specific crime prevention tips, most of which are always available on our website at www.cityofpaloalto.org/StopCrime.

Director Ken Dueker of the City’s Office of Emergency Services will also present information on our Emergency Services Volunteer program, and how residents can best organize their neighborhoods to combat crime and prepare themselves for any hazard, including natural disasters.  For more information, visit www.cityofpaloalto.org/EmergencyVolunteers.
